No, same thing happens when I run it in pop-mode.
Ill try to see if there is a bugzilla entry for this.

I have the same problem (as well as one with contact list, see other
mail). Ive changed my nokia to use pop instead, since its not
syncing over imap anyway, it makes imap pointless and I might as well
use pop. I hope this will make the problem go away. But generaly,
this (and no imap sync) makes the mail clients pretty much useless.
Any alternative being ported to maemo? GPE mail-add?

Im not sure if this has been addressed before. When retrieving email
using IMAP, initially it will try to retrieve all new mail and will
retrieve properly. Upon exit of the mail application, and running it
again, all the previously retrieved messages are gone. There is a
thread at internet tablet talk that talks about this but it involves
copying, deleting, and restoring files (

Any fix to this?
